I am a Computer and Data Science student of Old Dominion University, and I was a research assistant at Jefferson Lab for over 5 yrs. I now am a Graduate Research Assistant at ODU aiding NASA.
I am a researcher working in high-performance computing and data science. I am passionate about all things technology, from computing to network infrastructure. I am currently researching Intel's oneAPI for GPU acceleration and time series analysis for realtime load balancing in my home lab.
Winter 2023 (expected)
Expected to complete my Master's in Data Science with a concentration in Machine Learning and Artificial by the end of Winter 2023.
December 2022
I completed my B.S. in Computer Science in Winter of 2022, and continued into the Data Science Masters through ODU's Linked Program.
August 2019
Completed my Associates in Computer Science at TNCC after changing majors from Information Technology.
August 2013
I received my Advanced Diploma from Aviation Academy High School. I graduated from the school's Technology path with my CompTIA A+ Certificate.
January 2023 - Present
Here I am working on accelerating existing software to be performant on Intel's GPUs utilizing oneAPI.
June 2015 - December 2022
My time here as a software developer has been spent producing high-performance multi- threaded software alongside physicists to achieve the needs of ongoing analysis. My task is to support physicists on multiple software projects, ensure the stability of software projects, and maintain software repositories while researching parallel computing and its applications. I take algorithms and write them into toolkits or standalone software to execute on the GPU or CPU with minimal numerical error. I also presented the core software project, PyPWA, to several groups inside Jefferson Lab.
June 2013 - June 2017
During my time at NASA, I maintained and supported the NASA HUNCH website. My job was to meet with the various users who generated content for the site and find or develop plugins to help them achieve their content goals. During my time in thi position, I evaluated several CMS and produced a handful of WordPress themes and plugins.
August 2012 - June 2013
During my senior year of high school, I was brought in as I.T. aide to fill in for the days the school was without an a local I.T. Person. While there, I updated the flight simulation system to expand the field of view. I updated the student labs to Windows 7, set up Windows Server 2008 and Active Directory for the Student lab, and configured Windows Deployment Services to deploy new machines.
I am a passionate researcher in all things technology. Any subject ranging from mathematics to Computer Science and even Information Technology will have me hooked in a second. I have spent several years of my life working on toy software to understand new concepts or trying to deploy new services to my Home Lab, all in an attempt to further my knowledge of computing. My passion does not exist in a vacuum, either. I will jump at any chance to apply the skills I have honed over the years.
When I was in high school, I switched to Linux to explore network services and the world of open-source software. While there, I became president of the Technology Club and spent my free time working for the school to help with technical issues. Eventually, I set up Windows Deployment Services, Windows Server 2012, an Active Directory, and light automation for the student labs.
I started an internship with NASA directly out of high school that quickly became a paid contract to provide technical services to the HUNCH program. While there, I wrote WordPress themes and managed HUNCH's YouTube and web services.
Eventually, I enrolled in the local community college and started an internship with Jefferson Lab. From there, I have worked on source code management, parallelization of workloads, GPU acceleration, continuous integration, automated testing, and much more. I completed my work with Jefferson Lab as I graduated from ODU with my B.S. in Computer Science.
Now, I am a Graduate student at Old Dominion University enrolled in the M.S. of Data Science with a concentration in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. I am currently on track to graduate by the end of 2023.
